In celebration of the university’s Graduate & Professional Student Appreciation Week, we want to take a moment to recognize and express our gratitude to all of our Design Science graduate students. Their dedication, curiosity, and commitment to our interdisciplinary design science field are what make our program so unique and impactful. Whether through research, collaboration, leadership, or community-building, each of them contributes to the strength and success of Design Science. We appreciate the hard work they put into advancing knowledge, tackling complex challenges, and supporting one another along the way. Thank you to all for your passion and perseverance—you are the heart of our community, and we are grateful for all that you do!
We want to extend a special appreciation to Yunyan Li for her outstanding contributions to the monthly “Design Briefs” and the Design Science Student Center in Canvas. Her dedication to curating and sharing valuable updates, events, and student profiles has helped keep our community informed and engaged. Through her efforts, the newsletter and student center have served as a vital resource, strengthening connections within the program and fostering a sense of unity among students and faculty. Thank you, Yunyan, for your hard work and commitment to keeping our community connected!
We also want to recognize Jared Owens, Hannah Myers, Brian Richards, and Youngeun Yu who were elected to the newly established Design Science Student Advisory Committee (DSAC) for their initiative and dedication to building a stronger student community. Their leadership in creating this organization has provided students with a platform for community engagement, collaboration, professional development, and peer support. By fostering interdisciplinary connections and organizing meaningful activities, they are shaping a more vibrant and engaging environment for current and future Design Science students.
Last, but not least, a special thank you also goes to Uthman Olagoke for his ongoing service as Social Chair for Design Science. His repeated efforts in organizing events and creating opportunities for students to connect outside of the classroom have been instrumental in strengthening our community. His enthusiasm and dedication to making the Design Science program a welcoming and inclusive space have had a lasting impact. We deeply appreciate his contributions and the energy he brings to the program!
